At Highmark Renewables, Waste=Opportunity!

Highmark Renewables designs GPAD facilities and Integrated bioRefineries and licenses the technologies to our customers.  Highmark has developed GPAD a unique system to derive enormous energy value from high-solids and highly fibrous organic wastes, such as manure from outdoor feedlots, food industry residues and municipal solid waste.

Highmark's GPAD technology has been in successful operation at the commercial scale at a large, open-pen feedlot since early 2005.  Our technology is unique for its ability to generate value from tough-to-handle materials at almost any scale.

Organic material is fed into the GPAD system through a proprietary
High-Solids Feedstock Handling System.  In this stage, solids and liquids are mixed to generate a thick slurry that is then conveyed into the digester vessels.

Highmark's GPAD systems are Multi-feedstock systems with dynamic control, able to process virtually any organic material in a recipe specifically designed for maximal operational stability and energy output.

The two main products of a Highmark GPAD facility are Biogas, a 100% renewable energy source, and Bio-based Fertilizer, a high quality fertilizer and soil amendment product.

Highmark's digester systems include a number of uniqe design features:

Clean-Slate system reduces annual maintenance of digester vessels to a minimum
Active Access design allows for ease of maintenance of equipment within digester vessels

Highmark employs a multi-stage biogas polishing system to produce biogas free of corrosive elements in all  faciliies we design, dramatically decreasing maintenance costs in the equipment that uses the biogas.  Highmark designs biogas utlization in our facilities based on the optimal use of biogas in each location; either elecricity and heat cogeneration, direct combustion in boilers, upgrading to pipeline grade renewable natural gas, or even compressed into vehicle fuel for NGV vehicles.

Highmark's technology includes a number of levels of fertilizer production (sometimes described as Nutrient Recovery) that can be employed in facilities depending on the optimal economics at your location.
